Welcome To My World......
Hi... My name is Olubukola Adesina (nee Akintola). I am a Yoruba lady from Nigeria. In my language, the name "Olubukola" means literarilly, "God has added to my wealth!!
I had my secondary education at Queen's School, Apata, Ibadan, Nigeria. I was a member of Baobab (Red) House. I learnt so many things while at Queen's School, which really shaped my life. I had five best friends while there. They are Sade Olusesi, Funmilola Adebiyi, Titi Ajayi, Aramide Adedigba and Taiwo Agboluaje. I was a member of the Cultural and Dramatic Society. I loved the club very much! We used to perform plays and cultural dances both within and outside the school. I really had a nice time out there.
From there, I proceeded to the University of Ibadan, Nigeria for a degree in Political Science. To me going to the University spelt freedom! I was leaving home for the first time and from then I became the master of my own life! We were just six girls in my class of 48 students. The girls really proved they were forces to be reckoned with! I made quite a number of good friends. Some of them are Kehinde Iterogba, Dunny Alayande, Tinu Ogunleye, Nike Adeyemo and so on...
After the programme, I went on the National Youth Service Programme (a compulsory one year programme for fresh graduates) in Katsina State. The programme was means of promoting inter-cultural exchange among the Nigerian youths. I belong to the Yoruba group, so I went to serve among the Hausas. I was able to learn about the Hausas and to appreciate their ways of life. I sure did have a nice time, and almost didn't come back home!
I later went back to the University of Ibadan, for a Masters degree in Political Science. It was another period in my life that will always remain with me!
I completed a Ph.D in Political Science at the University of Natal, Pietermaritzburg, South Africa, where I focused on Civil Society in Nigeria.
Above all, I love God very much. I am a Christian. I have turned my life completely to Christ (You should too!!).
Thanks...... |
